Lake Afton Observatory has busy spring planned

This spring, the Lake Afton Public Observatory will be presenting "Black Holes in Space" on Friday and Saturday evenings March 28-29; April 4-5 and 25-26; May 2-3, 23-24 and 30-31; and June 20-21 and 27-28. Lake Afton's second spring program is called "Celebrity Craters." It will be presented on Friday and Saturday evenings March 14-15 and 21-22; April 11-12 and 18-19; May 9-10 and 16-17; and June 6-7 and 13-14. Multicultural Visit Program

More than 30 students participated in WSU's Multicultural Visit Program Friday, March 14. Students met a number of WSU students and faculty and learned about academic programs and student organizations.

Radical needlework coming to the Ulrich Museum

Mark your calendar for Thursday, March 27, when Stan Shellabarger and Dutes Miller will perform radical needlework from 4-5 p.m. in the Ulrich Museum galleries. Known for their endurance performance art, Stan and Dutes will crochet "Untitled (Pink Tube)." Following the performance, the work will be on view at the Ulrich Museum through April 13 in "The Suburban" (a show within a show), as part of the one-person survey exhibition of Chicago-based artist Michelle Grabner. The WSU performance, a first for Stan and Dutes, is free and open to the public.

Women in student government leadership

Women campus leaders in the Student Government Association and other organizations will talk about what it takes to attain a leadership role on campus and the challenges they face from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, March 24, in 314 Rhatigan Student Center. The event is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Student Government Association.

Nutsch put the past behind her, looks ahead to future at WSU

In October 2005, two months after Karen Nutsch and her family lost their home near Rose Hill, Kan., to a devastating gas explosion, ABC's "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" knocked at their door. That knock would change more than the family's living conditions. One of the things her parents had expressed to ABC that they wanted most for their children was a college education, and WSU stepped up in a big way with full-ride scholarships. http://www.wichita.edu/thisis/wsunews/news/?nid=136
